LLM (large language model)
Definition
A large language model is an AI system trained on huge amounts of text that predicts and writes language; it powers ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and most AI assistants and chatbots.
Example
A support bot that understands “where’s my order?” written in five different ways, and answers in the customer’s language, is usually built on an LLM.
Common mistakes
- Treating its answers as facts: a model can sound confident and still be wrong, so business data has to come from your own sources.
- Sending it personal or confidential data without checking how the provider stores it.
- Expecting it to know your prices and stock without connecting it to them.
