SERP (search engine results page)
Definition
A SERP is the page a search engine shows in response to a query: ads, the organic results and extra blocks such as maps, questions, images or AI-generated answers.
Example
For “pizza delivery” the SERP usually shows ads at the top, then a map with nearby places, then regular website links.
Common mistakes
- Looking only at the “ten blue links”: maps, questions and answers take a large part of the attention.
- Checking your position from your own browser: results are personalised by location and history.
