Design system
Definition
A design system is a shared set of reusable components — buttons, forms, cards — with rules for colours, type and spacing, so every new page or screen looks and works consistently.
Example
A company adds ten new service pages in a month, and all of them look like one site because they are built from the same components.
Common mistakes
- Building a huge system for a five-page site.
- Making a system nobody uses because it is not linked to the real code.
- Never updating it, so designers and developers drift apart.
