Glossary
CMS (content management system)
Definition
A CMS is software with an admin panel that lets you add and edit pages, texts, photos and prices on a website without writing code; WordPress is the best-known example.
Example
A shop manager changes a price and uploads new product photos through the admin panel, and the site updates straight away.
Common mistakes
- Choosing a heavy CMS for a site that will never change — it adds updates and security work for nothing.
- Never updating the CMS and its plugins, which leaves known security holes open.
- Registering the admin account to the developer instead of the business.
